Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) Training
We are pleased to announce that the European Society for Swallowing Disorders (ESSD) will host a certified FEES Course in Innsbruck, Austria, from 14 to 16 November 2025. This intensive training is designed for healthcare professionals involved in the assessment and treatment of dysphagia, particularly in patients with neurogenic causes such as stroke.
Dysphagia—often overlooked—is a common and serious complication following stroke, affecting both quality of life and long-term outcomes. Timely and accurate identification of swallowing disorders is essential to avoid complications such as aspiration pneumonia, malnutrition, and prolonged hospital stays. Objective, evidence-based assessments like FEES are key to improving diagnosis and guiding effective rehabilitation strategies.
This course follows the standardized European FEES curriculum, providing participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical guidance necessary to work toward the FEES certificate. The training focuses on improving the quality and consistency of swallowing evaluations and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
The course will be conducted in German.
